Welcome Sacred Heart School parents - we're glad that you're here! This page will enable you to learn more about the various parent-based organizations within Sacred Heart School, as well as assist you in accessing important links that are pertinent to your child's education. What is the PTA?

The PTA (Parent/Teacher Association) is YOU! All of our SHS parents are members of the PTA, and we'd love to have your active participation. The PTA organizes fundraisers for the benefit of our students at Sacred Heart School. Some of the fundraisers include the Quarter Auction and the Annual PTA Breakfast. The funds we raise help to cover the cost of the art program provided at SHS, and are also used to purchase items like additional books and supplies for our classrooms, TeacherEase and Accelerated Reading software, wish list items for our teachers, Catholic Schools Week activities (taking students bowling or to a movie), Santa visits and Christmas gifts for students, Teacher Appreciation Week festivities, End of School Picnic/Assembly, and upkeep of the parish kitchen. The students have also enjoyed many educational assemblies - including musical performances, reptile shows, author book signings, and more - all as a result of the PTA funds raised.

SHS Parents: We ask for your support of these events not only in your attendance, but also in volunteering to work a shift. This is a great opportunity to work alongside other parents and get to know the families of Sacred Heart School. Signup sheets will be available in the weeks leading up to each planned event.

Every parent of each Sacred Heart School students is a member of PTA; however, being an active member of the PTA offers many benefits. It keeps parents involved in the day-to-day happenings, and it enables you to meet other parents and to be a vital part of your child's educational success. 

Being on the planning committee simply requires a strong desire and commitment to become involved in helping our school, students, teachers, and staff. Our meeting are held the first Wednesday of the month (during school months only). It is not required that you attend every meeting, but your attendance allows you to give your input into new ideas and/or tweaking past ideas and events.

Family involvement promotes student success, and students with involved parents are more likely to accomplish the following:
* Earn higher grades and test scores 
* Be promoted, pass their classes, and earn credits 
* Attend school regularly
* Have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school 
* Graduate and pursue postsecondary education

Plus, when families, schools, and communities work together:
* Student achievement improves 
* Teacher morale rises 
* Communication among parents, teachers, and administrators increases 
* Family, school, and community connections multiply

News from the Booster Club

The Sacred Heart Booster Club is made up of parents whose child(ren) play sports or partake in scholar bowl or band. The Booster Club provides the funding necessary for all extra-curricular activities such as athletics, scholar bowl, band, and more.

Currently, Sacred Heart School sports programs include:
    Boys Baseball
    Girls Softball (Co-Op with St. Anthony)
    Boys/Girls Cross Country (Co-Op with St. Anthony)
    Boys/Girls Basketball
    Boys/Girls Golf
    Girls Volleyball
    Boys/Girls Tennis (non-IESA)
    Boys/Girls Track
    Boys/Girls Soccer (non-IESA)
    Girls Cheerleading

The Booster Club pays for all team uniforms, coaches salaries, referrees/umpires, gym maintenance, travel to away games, and sporting equipment. We provide concessions at all home games and clean the gym after sporting events. We raise funds for our programs through Booster Club dues ($20 per family, per year), an annual fundraiser, the Shamrock Race to the Cross (held during the annual Church picnic), admission and concessions at home games, and through merchandise sales (t-shirts, window decals, yard flags, etc.).

To help raise funds for the Booster Club, the group hosts events such as the Tailgate Tasting Party and Glo Bingo. 

The Booster Club also sells two-sided advertising banners that hang on the fencing around the perimeter of the baseball diamond. Each banner sells for $600, and will remain in place for a two-year period. Contact us at 217.342.4060 if your business is interested in advertising.

We invite you to join us at our meetings (watch the Green Note for info), as all parents - past and present - are very instrumental in planning and implementing the Booster Club efforts.  

Season Passes good for all Girls and Boys Basketball games as well as all Volleyball games are available for only $25! You may purchase passes at your next sports event or call the school at 217.342.4060.
