Additional Registration Information:

Tuition: The unsubsidized actual cost to educate each student at SHS is approximately $6,000. Supplemented by the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church and those who donate to the Sacred Heart School Annual Fund, our current tuition rate reflects only a portion of the true cost of education. As we are sensitive to the needs of our school families and their household budgets, we strive to keep tuition affordable while maintaining our school’s operating budget. Our Parish believes in the mission of providing a high quality Catholic education so we pay for a large portion of each Sacred Heart School student’s education.    *Please view/download the tuition forms on this page for more information regarding tuition.

Material Fees: Material Fees cover expenses including textbooks, e-books, technology fees, special materials required for particular classes, and other necessary items for each student. For the 2020-21school year, the SHS material fee remains unchanged at $280 per student.

Annual Fund Gift: Sacred Heart School offers an opportunity to contribute a gift (above the tuition charged) in order to help cover the true cost of education. All school families – Catholic and other faiths – are encouraged to make a donation to the Annual Fund in order to narrow the difference between the standard tuition charge and the true cost of educating each child. All contributions above your students’ tuition are considered voluntary, and are thus fully tax-deductible. All gifts stay at Sacred Heart School, and help to support the operating budget.

Tuition Scholarships: Funded through Sacred Heart Parish, and available to registered/active members of Sacred Heart Church:  For financially eligible families, we offer tuition assistance for students in kindergarten-grade 8. We utilize a third-party vendor, Covenant Tuition Services, when determining financial assistance so as to ensure impartiality and sensitivity to privacy. Applicants confidentially submit financial information to Covenant Tuition Services, who then recommends an assistance amount based on the family’s demonstrated need. The pastor and Tuition Assistance Committee make the final decision on the amount of financial assistance provided (based on financial need and availability of funds). Online applications are accepted at http://cts-tuition.com/app/saceffil/, or forms can be downloaded at www.sheff.org. The deadline for
applying for this parish-funded tuition assistance is April 6, 2020. Families who apply for tuition assistance from the parish must also apply for the Invest in Kids Scholarship (see next section for details).

Invest In Kids Act: Funded through the state of Illinois, and available to all families, regardless of religious affiliation: In August 2017, Public Act 100-0465 created the Invest In Kids Act (35 ILCS 40/1) which allows income tax credits for taxpayers who make authorized contributions to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). The SGOs, in turn, provide scholarships for eligible Illinois students to attend non-public (private/parochial) schools in Illinois. The scholarships are available to K-12 students and are based on financial need.  With this legislation, families are able to choose to enroll in a non-public (private/parochial) school with scholarship money available for tuition and necessary fees. Families wishing to apply for scholarships through the Invest in Kids Act must complete the free application at www.EmpowerIllinois.org to determine eligibility. The application process for the 2020-21 school year opened on January 15, 2020 and scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. We encourage you to apply immediately if you haven’t already. Contact Mrs. Wenthe at 217.342.4060 for additional information.

NOTE: Invest in Kids Act scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds donated through Empower Illinois and specifically deemed for use at Sacred Heart School.
