Welcome to Sacred Heart

Technology is used widely throughout ALL grade levels at Sacred Heart School. SHS students in grades 3-8 are equipped with Chrome Notebooks, providing students with 1:1 technology! Our preschool through grade 2 students utilize iPads, Leapsters, and PC's in their classrooms. SMARTboard technology is utilized daily in every classroom. In addition, Sacred Heart School is blessed to have a 26-seat computer lab, which is used by students in grades Kindergarten - 8. Students receive 1-2 class periods of instructional time per week in the computer lab.

At Sacred Heart School, we believe that the use of technology is important to our students in that it keeps them engaged in learning, and ensures they are advancing their skill levels in core subjects such as math, reading, and English. Our teachers attend technology conferences and continually research and update the various apps that are used on our iPads, and they encourage the students to use learning games and apps at home on their personal devices, where applicable.

Students are able to bring their own personal technology devices to school, for use in the classroom, when applicable and according to specific teacher instructions. Each device must be registered in the school office. Please speak with your student's teacher if you have questions or concerns about your child's personal technology devices. During Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) time, the student may use his/her personal iPad, iPhone, iPod, Kindle / Kindle Fire, etc. to read digitally. Students might also use iPhones, iPads, etc. to create classroom projects such as music videos and historical presentations.

From as early as Kindergarten, students learn how to operate and log on to a computer, open and work in such programs as Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and more. Students also take computer-generated tests as part of the Accelerated Reading Program at Sacred Heart School.

We thank the generous donors who help Sacred Heart School stay at the forefront of technological advances. Please note that our annual Technology Raffle will not be held during the 2018/19 school year due to the parish capital campaign. Donations are always welcome however, to help purchase new and maintain our current technologies in the classroom. Please contact Mrs. Wenthe at 217.342.4060 to discuss.
Thank you!!
